House portrait commissions

You can have your home illustrated by hand in pen and ink for your walls, or have friends or relatives’ homes illustrated to give as a beautiful bespoke gift.

I draw every home individually by hand from photographs, then scan and work on the illustration digitally. I use line drawing in black pen, however I often use colour to highlight a particular feature when it suits the home and the image - perhaps a distinctive front door, beautiful red bricks, or wisteria which blooms every year across the face of a cottage, for example. I also hand write the name (or number and street of the house if wished) of the house.

I aim to bring out the beauty and character of every home I illustrate, and as you can see from the gallery, any type of building looks wonderful, whether big or small, period or modern, terraced or detached, urban or rural.

These individual, characterful prints make a lovely present for any occasion and recipient - even those ‘hard to buy for’ people or tricky anniversaries! I love illustrating homes of all shapes and sizes, capturing their character in a print that can be treasured for years to come.

Supplied unframed so that the recipients (or gift giver) can frame the print to coordinate with the interior decor. These prints are A4 sized unless a particular size is required (I can produce the print to fit a specific frame size).

All I need you to supply is one or more good quality, clear photograph/s of the house showing the whole front of the property, including the roof/chimney. Please ensure the front door is closed and preferably no obstructions (eg bins, or cars parked) in front of the house. Please take closer photos of any details such as the front door so that I can fully see what is there. Please email photos to me at helen@helenleslie.com after ordering. Allow approximately 4 weeks from receipt of your photographs for me to illustrate and create the print, please contact me if you have any different requirements/deadlines. Thank you!
